Lawyer Terms

1. Professional declaration

By registering, you declare that you are a lawyer registered and in good standing with the bar or legal regulator of the jurisdiction where you practise (in Brazil, the OAB) and responsible for legal decisions. The artificial intelligence assistant prepares drafts; you are the one who decides, reviews and signs.

2. Requirements

• Active registration, in good standing, with the bar or legal regulator of the jurisdiction where you practise (in Brazil, the OAB, with the correct number and section); trainees excluded
• Regulator by region: Brazil — Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB); Portugal — Ordem dos Advogados; Angola — Ordem dos Advogados de Angola; Mozambique — Ordem dos Advogados de Moçambique; Cape Verde — Ordem dos Advogados de Cabo Verde; Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste — the national bar association; England and Wales — Solicitors Regulation Authority (solicitors) or Bar Standards Board (barristers); Scotland — Law Society of Scotland or Faculty of Advocates; Northern Ireland — Law Society of Northern Ireland or Bar of Northern Ireland; Ireland — Law Society of Ireland or The Bar of Ireland; United States — the state bar of each state where you are admitted; Canada — the provincial or territorial law society (in Québec, the Barreau du Québec); Spain — the Colegio de Abogados (Consejo General de la Abogacía Española); Mexico — cédula profesional issued by the SEP; Argentina — Colegio Público de la Abogacía or the provincial bar association; Colombia — tarjeta profesional (Consejo Superior de la Judicatura); Chile — title of abogado granted by the Corte Suprema; Peru — the Colegio de Abogados of the district; France — the barreau (Conseil National des Barreaux); Germany — the Rechtsanwaltskammer; Italy — the Ordine degli Avvocati; other European Union countries — the national bar (member of the CCBE); Australia — the state or territory legal regulator; New Zealand — New Zealand Law Society; India — Bar Council of India and the state bar councils; South Africa — Legal Practice Council; other countries — the body that licenses lawyers under national law
• Submission of the registration document and a verified face badge on your own account
• A truthful profile, checked by a member of the team before it is published; changing the registration sends the profile back for checking

3. Ethics and advertising

You comply with the professional and advertising rules of the jurisdiction where you practise (in Brazil, the Estatuto da Advocacia, the Code of Ethics and Discipline and OAB Provimento 205/2021). In addition, as a platform rule for all lawyers, in your profile and messages do not advertise prices, promotions or free services, do not promise outcomes, do not use superlatives, ratings or testimonials and do not solicit clients improperly. Texts that breach these rules are refused before they are saved.

4. Assistant and drafts

What the assistant prepares — replies, proposals, pleadings, contracts, deadline calculations — is a supporting draft and is only valid after your review. Messages from the assistant carry the assistant badge, and it does not promise outcomes or estimate prospects. Deadlines calculated by the system are a support: the official count is yours.

5. Confidentiality and client data

You keep professional confidentiality over everything you receive. Use the client's data solely to handle the case, do not share it outside the case and process it in accordance with the applicable data protection law (in Brazil, the LGPD; in the United Kingdom and the European Union, the GDPR), as controller of the service you provide.

6. Fees

You agree and receive fees directly from the client. Legalocal takes no part in fees, charges no percentage on them and does not confirm payments; your payment details (in Brazil, the Pix key) are shown only to the client who accepts the proposal.

7. Lawyer plan

Professional use has a free period starting from the checked registration and, thereafter, a monthly subscription, with the price and conditions shown before you subscribe and notices before the free period ends. Where there are credits for receiving case files, they will be a prepaid technology service, per accepted case file, never a percentage of fees, paid placement or an auction of clients.

8. Court case monitoring

Daily monitoring of court cases and notices uses public sources, based on the case number and your registration, without court system passwords. The sources may be delayed or fail: monitoring is a support and does not replace your own checking in the official systems.

9. Suspension

Breaching these Terms may lead to removal of the profile from the directory and to suspension or termination of the account, across all brands of the group, under the Terms of Use, without prejudice to notification to the regulator with which you are registered (in Brazil, the OAB) where required.

10. Acceptance and new versions

The Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, the LGPD notice and the professional declaration are accepted in separate boxes, each with its own version, date and time. An old version is not accepted: when a text changes, you must accept the new one to continue.
